Here at Pets & Friends, we know how much cats love their creature comforts. That’s why we stock a wide range of cat beds and cat cushions to help them get cosy in their favourite spot. From cat tee-pees to hideaway beds for privacy, a cat’s bed is their safe place so it’s important to make sure they have the perfect bed for their environment.

Cat’s may use their beds as a place to hide during stressful periods (such as Firework season, or when you have visitors to the house), so placement is also important. Cats love warm spots, ideally up high (especially if you have other pets or small children) so putting their bed close to radiators or on suitable shelving can help them feel more comfortable. Does my cat need a bed?

Whilst it may seem that your cat likes to sleep anywhere the sun warms their bellies, it’s important that your cat has a bed (or more than one!) within your home to ensure they have a safe space.

Cats like to change where they sleep to help protect themselves from potential parasites, so offering a variety of sleep spaces will help them feel more relaxed. This is especially important if you have more than one cat, as they do not like to share unless they are a bonded pair!

How often do I need to wash my cat’s bed or bedding?

To help protect your cat from fleas and other parasites, you should wash their bedding as often as you wash your own. However, it’s important not to wash all their bedding at the same time. Cats rely heavily on scent, and it could make them feel anxious if there’s no safe space at home which carries their scent when they need to rest. We would suggest alternating the bed washing.

Where should I put my cat’s bed?

Cat’s prefer to be elevated, as high as you can safely put them! So that they have a good vantage point to see their surroundings and are protected from ground level predators and disturbances. Ensure your cat’s beds are as far away from their litter tray as possible, as well as their food and water bowls. Your cat also needs a quiet space, so avoid places with heavy foot traffic or loud appliances to ensure your cat gets their much-needed snooze time.

Top Tip: pop their scratch post next to their bed so they can have a good long stretch and scratch when they wake up!
